It's my birthday today and so far I have spent it tending to the Tiny Human, working and waiting for a courier package from my mum. So far two courier packages have arrived, but neither are the birthday present from my mum. However the Tiny Human received a courier package from his Godfather/"uncle" & "aunty" with a birthday present inside (and also a couple of things we left behind when we visited them for Easter).
It's hard to believe that in a few short weeks, the Tiny Human will be a year old. He has a few presents here waiting already, a couple I bought earlier in the year (so at least he would get something if times were tight) and a present in a shiny red bag from Granny & Grandpa, but the arrival of his present today definitely gave me a reminder that my little boy isn't so little anymore.
People always say that timeflies and it's something that I've noticed more as i've grown older, but it really speeds by when you have a little one. It could be said that this is because of the lack of sleep that comes with having a baby, but we have been super lucky and landed an excellent sleeper.
My theory is it's because you're getting older and your concept of time changes with age (a year is really long as a kid), paired with watching with little human grow and change so much in the space of a month, let alone a year.
I'm looking forward to this milestone in our lives and getting everybody together to celebrate; the theme for his birthday party is "Viking Beach Landing Party" and if the weather is anything like today, it will be a spectacular day.
How did you celebrate your little ones first birthday and what is the most memorable thing from your first year as a parent?
