To all the mum's (and non-mum's) who write 'Follow' on a Facebook post they want to keep track of, please stop it, it's annoying and you don't need to do it. Hopefully with this blog you will learn how to follow a post without commenting unless you need/want to and also provide you with a "how to" that you can share with others.
There are two ways to follow a post on Facebook and none of them require you to write "follow" on the post.
You use to be able to follow a post by clicking the like button, but that no longer seems to work.
HOW TO FOLLOW POSTS/TURN ON NOTIFICATIONS
To follow a Facebook post, click the faint downward "arrow" in the righthand corner. A selection box will appear (pictured below) with a few different options. Click on the option "Turn on notifications".
This process can be applied to turn off notifications (just select "Turn off notifications") if you no longer want to receive updates on a post you have commented on, this is particularly useful for baby announcements, engagements and other such statuses that receive a high amount of comments.

- Comment on the post
Okay so this means you could write follow, but it would be better if you wrote something of worth. The most annoying thing about posting on a on a mummy's Facebook group (or responding to a post) is getting notifications of people writing 'follow' rather than something that adds to the conversation or helps answer the question - Use the notifications button
Yup, there is a button to turn on (and turn off) notifications. In other words a button to allow you to follow a post. This button works on Facebook groups, pages & personal pages.
