The Bearded One delivers pizza four nights of the week and on those four nights I usually have pizza for dinner. Although I am pretty sick of pizza now, it's cheap, I really don't like making dinner for just myself (have never liked having dinner without the Bearded One) and it's just easier to cook for two or more.
A few weeks ago I watched "Fat, Sick and Almost Dead" on Netflix; now I'm not about to go on a juice diet or anything crazy like that, but it did make me want a juicer so I could get more nutrients into my pizza diet. After a quick flick through a few stores online, I found that Briscoes had a "Hot Price" ($24.99) on the Zip 423 Compact Juicer.
On Friday the Bearded One popped into Briscoes during his lunch break and picked up a store model Zip 423 Compact Juicer. No box, no manual and missing the catch jug, but that's an easy fix.
Now all I needed were fruits & vegetables, so yesterday the Tiny Human, the Bearded One and I were up and motivated in time to go on an adventure to the Willis Street Market.
We spent about $30 and walked away with this haul (not all for juicing); bananas, apples, oranges, lemons, brussel sprouts, a leak, 2 butternut squash, mangos, 2 punnets of blueberries, spinach, carrots, 3 beetroot and some kumara.
Today I used the juicer for the first time and found I didn't even need a manual to figure out how to work the machine, it was so easy to use. The thing I wasn't looking forward to with the juicer was clean up, but with the way the juicer comes apart clean up was easy and took no time at all.
I'll be posting juice recipes that I try out, but if you have a favourite that you think I should try post it in the comments below or on the Facebook page.
